Senior Full Stack Web Developer

About Socio Local

SocioLocal is building the operating system for local retail marketing. We enable enterprise retailers to orchestrate, optimise and measure thousands of locally relevant digital campaigns from a single platform, combining the control required by head office with the authenticity of local engagement. By connecting brands, stores, suppliers and communities, SocioLocal helps retailers grow customer engagement, drive store performance and unlock the next generation of Retail Media revenue.

Role overview

As SocioLocal enters a new phase of growth and product evolution, we are establishing our core technical leadership in-house. While we have developed our product predominantly with an outsourced Dev Team to date, we are looking for an experienced full stack developer to work closely with our CTO, who drives our technical strategy, to elevate our development practices, and accelerate our ability to deliver value to our customers. You will play a pivotal role in bridging our existing product foundations with an ambitious roadmap, ensuring our platform remains robust, scalable, and responsive to user needs.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end delivery of features across web, backend, and mobile (cross-platform), from database to UI.
  • Take joint ownership, with the CTO, of data pipeline reliability, ingestion, and storage: the syncing and reporting services that keep social data flowing from multiple social network APIs. Fix data quality issues at the source rather than patching downstream symptoms.
  • Build resilience against third-party social API changes, so deprecations and breaking changes don't go unnoticed.
  • Design and maintain our internal and customer APIs with the same care: clear, stable contracts that don't silently break their consumers.
  • Design and evolve schemas and indexes for a large, growing, multi-dimensional dataset.
  • Write and maintain infrastructure as code.
  • Maintain and improve our container-based local development environment.
  • Develop, maintain, and extend AI/LLM-powered features.
  • Improve observability: monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Collaborate day-to-day with the CTO, Data Scientist, Product Manager, and the rest of the dev and design team.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven full-stack experience with strong fundamentals: HTTP, browser and server architecture, and a debugging mindset that traces problems to their root cause across the stack. Specific framework experience matters less: our stack spans Node.js, Angular, Python, and React Native. We'd rather hire for how you work than for which language or framework you've shipped before.
  • Comfortable using AI coding tools (we use Claude Code) to work productively in unfamiliar languages, frameworks, or codebases, not reliant on already knowing our exact stack going in.
  • Solid version control practice: comfortable with git workflows, branching, and reviewing diffs.
  • Comfortable with Docker for local development against a multi-service, containerized environment.
  • Solid experience with AWS serverless and traditional compute (Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, SNS/SQS), and with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK).
  • NoSQL and SQL database experience: schema design, indexing, and query optimization at scale.
  • Experience integrating with external APIs that change unpredictably, and building safeguards so breakages surface fast, not silently.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and keeping deployed infrastructure in sync with its IaC source.
  • Writes tests as part of the work, not as a separate step someone else does later.
  • Traces a bug to why it happened, not just what fixes it, and closes the gap so the same class of bug doesn't recur.
  • Prefers shipping small and often over batching changes into large, risky releases.
  • Keeps documentation up to date as behavior changes, not after it's drifted.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable making judgment calls independently: trusted to decide, not just execute, and escalates only when a decision genuinely needs the CTO or Product Manager.
  • Stays close to the product and its customers, not just the ticket in front of them. Good decisions come from business context.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
